Day trips

Day trips from Anderson, SC

Anderson sits between Greenville, Clemson and the lakes. Here's what's within an hour of our homes and worth the drive.

Greenville (45 minutes)

The Upstate's main city. Falls Park on the Reedy and the Liberty Bridge are the postcard; the Swamp Rabbit Trail runs 20-plus miles from downtown to Travelers Rest if you bring bikes. Downtown Main Street has the restaurants. Go on a weeknight if you can; Saturday parking is a project.

Clemson (35 minutes)

The campus is worth a walk even without a game: the South Carolina Botanical Garden is free, and downtown Clemson has a few good bars along College Avenue. On home-game Saturdays, see our game weekend page.

Lake Hartwell (20 minutes)

56,000 acres across the Georgia line. Sadlers Creek State Park has a public ramp and swimming area. If Broadway Lake is the quiet option, this is the big one.

Pendleton (20 minutes)

A village green surrounded by 1800s storefronts, ten minutes from Clemson. Lunch at one of the places on the square, then the historic district on foot.

The mountains (60 to 90 minutes)

Table Rock State Park, Caesars Head and the Blue Ridge Escarpment are an hour north. Issaqueena Falls and Stumphouse Tunnel outside Walhalla are a shorter drive and an easy afternoon. Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway, is the drive to take in October.

Downtown Anderson (5 to 10 minutes)

Main Street has a seasonal farmers market, a handful of restaurants and breweries, and the Anderson County Museum. It's small, walkable, and closer than any of the above.

Ask us when you book and we'll tell you what's actually open that weekend.
